More than 170 Innovative IT projects were selected for 1st round and after presentation, total 21 innovative projects has been selected. BASISis going to arrange an IT Job Fair on the occasion of BASISSoftExpo2012 be held on Feb 22-26, 2012.

The job fair has been arranged with an objective to help the BASIS member companies to find out (in very short time and minimum expense) qualified IT professionals for their companies. The other objective of the fair is to present positive and encouraging picture about career opportunity in the IT industry to the prospective young professionals who are passing out from different Universities and Institutes.

It is expected that a good number of IT and ITES professionals will take part at the job fair as job candidates. BASIS has already taken special promotional efforts to attract good quality professionals and students in this regard. By taking part at the job fair as en employer/recruiter, your organization can benefit by attracting some very good quality candidates taking part at the fair. Your organization will also be able to share information of your current activities, vision and future plans.

Program Format of IT Job Fair

• 
  The IT job fair can be participated by any software or ITES company. The company taking part needs to announce minimum one job opportunity. The job openings will be announced at SoftExpo/BASIS web site. The job list & Backdrop Design (Size: 7' X7', Ai Format) must be sent to BASIS by February 15, 2012. Participating companies and must take Face-to-Face Interviews of short-listed candidates on February 25, 2012 at SoftExpo venue (BICC).

• 
  Prospective candidates will be able to submit CVs at Job Fair booths at SoftExpo venue on 22nd,23rd & 24th February, 2012. CVs will be submitted against the announced job opening of participating IT company.


• 
  By 5pm of February 24 (Friday), CVs will be short listed by company representatives or BASIS volunteer team. The list will be made available at SoftExpo website and candidates will be contacted by SMS instantly.

• 
  On February 25, companies will take Face-to-Face Interview of the short listed candidates. Separate interview booths for companies will be arranged in this regard. The other related logistic arrangements including queue management will be provided by BASIS. The respective companies must send at least one interviewer to take the interview (the interview can also be primary screening interview). After that, respective companies will be able to proceed according to their own recruitment procedures.

SoftExpo-2012, an exposition of the country’s largest software and ICT-enabled services, is going to start in the capital from February 22. The five-day software carnival will be held for the tenth time this year at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC). Organizers of the expo, Bangladesh Association of Software & Information Services (BASIS) informed this at a pre-press conference in the city’s BASIS Conference room on Tuesday (January 17).



BASIS Senior Vice President Mr Fahim Mashroor presided over the press conference, which was attended, among others, by SoftExpo-2012 Convener and BASIS joint Secretary General Mr Tamzid Siddiq Spondon, BASIS Director  AK Sabbir Mahbub and representatives from GPIT, Ms. Birgit Holtskog, Consultant, Marketing & Communication.



With the theme ‘Empowering NEXT Generation’, SoftExpo-2012 is also going to take place in participation of different companies from home and abroad. A total of 120 local companies will be showcasing their latest products and services during the show while 30 foreign companies through Europe will also participate in – paving the way for the globally-renowned ICT companies to be aware further about the local market, make arrangements for outsourcing opportunities here and help bring in foreign direct investment (FDI) in Bangladesh’s booming digital economy.



Tamzid Siddiq Spondon said that this year the organizers would focus on youths during the expo. The expo has been planned in six zones – Business Software zone, e-Commerce zone, Communication & Cloud zone, Mobile Application zone and Outsourcing zone. BASIS (Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services) has arranged an innovative IT project contest titled “Abiskarer Khoje”. This is a yearly contest program of BASIS arranged with the objective of encouraging students to develop innovative ideas and create practical & implementable IT projects based on those ideas. We believe that this process helps our young talents become more creative and more equipped to apply their knowledge for developing solutions of real life problems and issues.

For the last six years, BASIS has been regularly arranging this contest. In those years, a total of over 300 innovative projects were submitted (majority by students), out of which a significant number have been awarded. The contest has also helped a number of contestants become independent IT entrepreneurs based on their developed projects.



Please note that the deadline for submitting projects for 2012 contest is 31 January 2012. The selection process (conducted by a Jury board comprising of experts from industry and academia) will be completed by Middle of February 2012 and the finalists will be able to showcase their IT projects in BASIS SoftExpo 2012 to be held on from February 22 to 26, 2012 at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre, Dhaka. On 25th of February, the winners (Champion and 2 Runners-up) will be announced. The champion team will receive Tk. 100,000 as prize money along with certificate.

The date has been shifted two days earlier than the previously declared date (February 24-28, 2012). According to the new schedule, the opening ceremony of  the Expo will be held on 22nd February 2012.
